Martin Billington and his father started
trading in 1981 as "Billington Valves" selling valves and
government surplus items such as Morse keys from his garage at home in
Horsham. The business expanded and in 1989 he moved to a small factory unit
at the nearby village of Bolney, the business continued to expand rapidly
into overseas markets and in 1991 "Billington Export" was formed.
The premises at Bolney soon became restricted for the four members of staff and
in 1992 "Billington Export" moved to the current premises at
Billingshurst. 1994 saw the introduction of their own brands,
"Thermionic" and "Billington Gold", and in 1995 the
purchase of a second, two storey, freehold warehouse next door to the
existing facility.
The computerised Stock Control system has been extended to include invoicing,
sales analysis and catalogue preparation which reflects Billington Export’s
positive approach to providing a fast and efficient service to its customers.

To meet customers’ needs for rare and
obsolete items over one million valves, plus CRTs, magnetrons and sockets are
now held in stock, including large quantities of Chinese and Russian items as
well as famous old brands such as Mullard, GEC, Sylvania etc. Most valves
carry a ‘no fuss’ guarantee for a minimum of 90 days.
Billington Export’s customers include, amongst others, audio enthusiasts,
audio shops, amplifier manufacturers, government, aviation and military
establishments. We have specialist test facilities on site as well as access
to extra high power test facilities from outside consultants.
The Company’s most valuable asset is its team of carefully chosen people who
dedicate each working day to maintaining the high standards of quality and
service for which "Billington Export" has become so well known.
